AVID

avid logo AVID, Advancement Via Individual Determination, is a college readiness system designed to increase the number of students who succeed in higher education and their lives beyond high school.  AVID strategies, such as focused note-taking, are used school-wide. Students selected to be in our AVID elective participate in college field trips, guest speaker lectures, and are taught necessary skill sets for academic success, such as organization, collaboration, and leadership. Core academic teachers trained in using AVID strategies further support our students.  AVID creates an atmosphere of positive peer pressure for students so that they are pushing each other to strive for success.

Boca Raton Community Middle School is one of 44 schools in the School District of Palm Beach County to offer AVID and the only school in the district to offer AVID Excel, a program intended to accelerate academic language acquisition for English Language Learners (ELLs).
